How Should The Milking Equipment Be Cleaned?

The milk in the milking area, the surfaces of all the milking equipment, areas and other farm equipment contaminated with dirt and fertilizers, have to be subjected to sanitation before the next milking. Also, the milk collection tanks have to be cleaned after each milk collection. The purpose of cleaning; is to remove the milk, organic and mineral residues from the mentioned equipment. The purpose of sanitation is, the eradication of bacteria remained from the previous milk urgently. The insufficient and misdone cleaning and sanitation processes lead to the remaining of the bacteria on the surfaces of the equipment and to their rapid proliferation around here. As a result, there is a remarkable increase in the number of bacteria within the milk.

To clean the milking instruments effectively, primarily it is necessary to analyse certain characteristics of the water such as the mineral components and the hardness and then to select a cleaning agent suitable to the nature of the water. If the hardness of the water is much, the amount of the detergent used should be increased.
