What are the Feeding Precautions to be Taken in Temperature Stress?

As the feed consumption rates of the animals exposed to temperature stress decreases, the animals have to be subjected to a special feeding. The negative effects of the temperature stress can be reduced with some changes made in the feeding. The balance of amino acids in the protein source used in the ration is crucial. The researches carried out show that lysine deficiency causes an increase in the body temperature. It has been determined that the appetite of the animals increased after adding the lysine in their rations and their body temperature decreased. What needs to be done is to increase the essential amino acids while reducing the protein content in the ration. Also, the use of animal protein should be made during this period. To eliminate the negative effects of the temperature stress on the immune system, it is particularly necessary to add vitamin C to the ration.

Having an adequate amount of vitamin C in the rations of poultries under the temperature stress, increases the performance, reduces the mortality rate and strengthens the immune mechanism. At the same time, it is also known that the addition of vitamin C increases the egg weight, shell quality and egg productivity. Besides, the addition of vitamin E into the ration also affects the immune system positively. The growing need for energy in animals which are getting the stress of temperature should be met through the use of good quality oil supply in the fodder.
